Planning your workplace emergency kit order

How much food and water is in a workplace emergency kit, and how long does it last?

Each kit includes a minimum survival ration of food and water for every person it covers, for up to three days. The food ration is 2,400 calories per person in total, about 800 calories per day. The water ration is six 4.227-oz pouches per person, about 25.4 oz in total, or roughly 8.45 oz per day. This is a minimum ration meant to sustain people through a short shelter-in-place or delayed evacuation, not a full daily diet. If you expect a longer stay or want to boost supplies for a larger group, add our 72-Hour Ration Kits, which provide additional pre-portioned food bars and water pouches sized to your group.

How much does a workplace emergency kit cost?

Prices start at $139 for the 5-person kit and reach $12,999 for the 1,000-person kit. Larger kits cost less per person: about $27.80 per person at 5 people, about $17.98 per person at 50 people, and about $12.99 per person at 1,000 people. Where should workplace emergency kits be stored?

Store kits where employees can reach them quickly, such as a supply room or near an exit route, and make sure your emergency coordinator and floor wardens know where they are. In multi-floor or multi-building facilities, stage kits by floor, department, or response zone instead of keeping everything in one place.

What is the difference between a workplace emergency kit and a workplace first aid kit?

A workplace first aid kit is for treating injuries. An emergency kit supports people who must shelter in place or wait out a delayed evacuation, with items such as food, water, sanitation supplies, lighting, and blankets. Many workplaces use both. How do I choose the right workplace emergency kit size?

Does the stated capacity apply to each bin or the complete kit?

The stated capacity applies to the complete kit. Kits packed in multiple numbered bins must be kept together because each bin is one component of the full configuration.

How many rolling bins are included?

The 30-, 40- and 50-person kits use one rolling bin. Kits for 60 through 100 people use two bins. The 250-, 500-, 750- and 1,000-person kits include 5, 10, 15 and 20 bins respectively.

What supplies are included?

Contents vary by capacity but generally include emergency food and water, first aid supplies, sanitation materials, lighting, communication equipment, protective items, blankets and basic emergency tools. Exact quantities are listed on each product page.

Are these workplace emergency kits OSHA compliant?

No emergency kit by itself establishes OSHA compliance. These kits can support an employer’s emergency planning and shelter-in-place preparations, but each organization remains responsible for its Emergency Action Plan, employee training, hazard assessment and applicable regulatory requirements.

Do you accept purchase orders and tax-exempt orders?

Yes. More Prepared accepts purchase orders from qualified organizations and supports tax-exempt purchasing. Eligible buyers may also purchase through GSA, CMAS, GoodBuy and other cooperative contracts.

How do rolling-bin kits ship?

Rolling-bin kits are palletized and shipped by freight carrier. Curbside delivery is standard; liftgate, inside-delivery and white-glove options can be quoted when required.

Can the kits be customized or branded?

Yes. Contents, quantities, labeling and deployment configurations can be customized for volume orders, multi-site programs and organization-specific requirements.

Can expired food and water be replaced without purchasing another complete kit?

Yes. Replenishment kits are available for replacing food, water and other dated components while retaining the rolling bins and durable supplies.
