Collection: Treatment Area Setup & Identification

Treatment-area setup equipment helps response teams establish visible, organized patient-care zones after initial triage. Choose color-coded shelters and tarps for defined treatment areas or overhead flag systems for identification across larger indoor and outdoor incident locations.

This collection is specifically for treatment-zone setup and identification. Patient triage tags, ribbons, and ribbon dispensers are available separately in our Triage Tags & Patient Tracking collection.

Establishing Visible Treatment Areas

After patients have been initially assessed and categorized, response teams may need to establish separate areas for continued assessment, treatment, transport coordination, and other incident functions. Clearly visible treatment areas help responders and incoming personnel locate the appropriate patient-care zones.

Treatment-area equipment should be selected according to the organization’s triage method, incident plan, available space, staffing, expected patient volume, weather conditions, and mutual-aid procedures.

Treatment-Area Shelters

The E-Z UP Triage Shelter Kit provides overhead, color-coded treatment areas that can also offer limited protection from sun and weather. Shelters are appropriate for larger outdoor incidents, planned events, exercises, or organizations that need highly visible treatment locations.

Consider required setup personnel, storage space, transportation, available deployment area, anchoring requirements, and expected environmental conditions before selecting a shelter system.

Treatment-Area Tarps

The Treatment Area Tarp Kit and Triage Tarps Set of 4 provide portable ground-level identification for treatment zones. Tarps deploy more quickly and require less storage space than full shelters, making them suitable for mobile teams, vehicles, facilities, and organizations with limited storage.

Ground tarps may be less visible across large or crowded incident scenes, so some organizations pair them with overhead flags.

Overhead Triage Flag Systems

The Treatment Area Flag Kit and Command GoBag TRIAGE Flag Kit provide elevated visual identification for treatment areas. Overhead flags can help incoming responders locate patient-care zones when ground-level tarps are obscured by vehicles, personnel, structures, or terrain.

Review each kit’s included colors, flag positions, stands, carrying system, and deployment requirements to determine whether it matches your treatment-area plan.
