Shelf Life
Product is designed for long-term indoor storage and labeled with the manufacturing lot and expiration date. Follow the date markings on the pouch or case when planning rotation cycles as part of your emergency preparedness program.

Storage
Store in a cool dry indoor location away from direct sunlight, cleaning chemicals, and other contaminants. Pouches may be kept in classrooms, offices, closets, or other indoor areas. Avoid storage near chemicals, fuels, or strong odors that may permeate the pouch material. Protect cases from puncture or crushing during storage and handling.

How much emergency water should I plan per person?

These are minimum reserves — FEMA recommends 1 gallon (128 oz) per person per day for full hydration and sanitation needs.

No. Datrex water pouches are single-serve and are not designed to be resealed or refilled after opening. What is SOLAS approval?
SOLAS stands for Safety of Life at Sea — an internationally recognized maritime safety standard that sets requirements for emergency water rations aboard vessels. SOLAS approval exceeds standard US Coast Guard requirements and is recognized internationally. Datrex and Mayday both carry SOLAS approval in addition to US Coast Guard approval.

Is pouch water environmentally friendly?
Foil pouches create far less volume than bottled water and reduce waste during storage rotation cycles. The 5-year shelf life can lower disposal and replenishment frequency for large emergency programs compared to annual bottled water rotation.
