Overview

Aqua Emergency Drinking Water is a long-shelf-life emergency water option for organizations and households that want to reduce the cost and effort of rotating emergency water supplies every few years.

The manufacturer describes a proprietary 13-step purification process that includes multi-stage filtration, vapor distillation, ozone disinfection, and UV sterilization. The water is hermetically sealed in aluminum cans with a polymer-based BPANI liner.

Built for long-term storage. The 50-year shelf life is the manufacturer's projection, based on its process, accelerated-aging methods, and an expert review of its documentation. No product has 50 years of real-time storage data yet, so we recommend storing it in a cool, dry place per manufacturer guidance. Manufacturer documentation is available on request.

Available in cases of 24 or pallets of 2,400 cans.

Common uses: government agency and school district emergency water programs, corporate and workplace preparedness, shelters and emergency facilities, household long-term water storage, and organizations looking to cut the cost of 5-year rotation cycles.

FAQ

Why choose canned emergency water instead of regular bottled water?
Hermetically sealed aluminum cans block light, oxygen and gases, which plastic bottles do not do as well over long periods. Regular bottled water typically carries a 1–2 year shelf life, partly because plastic is permeable. This product is designed by the manufacturer for a 50-year shelf life, which can reduce or eliminate routine rotation costs. The cans are also stackable, which suits permanent facility storage.

How was the 50-year shelf life determined?
The 50-year shelf life is the manufacturer's projection, based on its purification and sealing process, accelerated-aging methods, and an expert review of its documentation. No product has 50 years of real-time storage data yet, and More Prepared has not independently verified the projection. Manufacturer documentation is available on request.

How much emergency water should I plan per person?

FEMA recommends at least 1 gallon (128 oz) per person per day for drinking and sanitation. At 12 oz per can, that is about 11 cans per person per day, so a single can is a minimal supplemental ration, not a full day's supply. For institutional programs, plan case and pallet quantities from your occupant count and target duration.

Is the packaging BPA-free?
The manufacturer states the can uses a polymer-based BPANI (BPA non-intent) liner, meaning BPA is not intentionally added. The sealed aluminum can also avoids the degradation concerns associated with plastic bottles. Ask us for the manufacturer's packaging documentation.

Can the can be resealed or refilled after opening?
No. Aluminum cans are single-use. For a resealable option, Ready H2O 20-Year Emergency Drinking Water in a BPA-free HDPE bottle can be resealed, consumed over several hours, and refilled from treated water sources.

Is canned emergency water environmentally friendly?
Aluminum is highly recyclable, and recycled aluminum needs only about 5% of the energy of new aluminum. Because the product is designed for long-term storage without rotation, it can reduce replenishment and disposal compared with 5-year pouches or annual bottled-water rotation.

Who uses long-shelf-life canned emergency water?
Government agencies, school districts, corporate preparedness programs, shelters and emergency facilities, and households that want long-term water storage without frequent rotation.

What is the difference between the Aqua Emergency and American Red Cross versions?
Both are produced by the same manufacturer. The Aqua Emergency version comes in cases of 24 with a pallet of 2,400 cans. The American Red Cross version comes in cases of 12 with a pallet of 1,728 cans.

Is this available in bulk for institutional purchases?
Yes. Cases of 24 and pallets of 2,400 cans are available. Purchase orders and tax-exempt orders accepted. Contact us at 888.733.7245 or quotes@moreprepared.com for volume pricing.

How should damaged cans be handled?
Do not consume water from a damaged, dented, or compromised can. Inspect cases annually and remove any compromised units.
