Details
The Beluga™ BG-5 is a heavy-duty, five-compartment flood-control barrier designed for rapidly constructing long, continuous protection lines against major flooding, storm surge, erosion and moving water.
Each BG-5 measures approximately 15 feet long by 3 feet deep by 40 inches high when filled. Its five connected chambers help contain and evenly distribute sand, gravel or other suitable aggregate, creating a stable temporary levee with fewer gaps than individually placed bags.
One BG-5 replaces approximately 750 traditional sandbags and uses about 150 cubic feet of fill material. The barrier ships flat for efficient storage and transportation, then expands concertina-style for positioning and filling at the deployment site.
Multiple BG-5 units can be placed end to end to protect longer distances. Individual BG-1 bags can be added where targeted placement, gap filling or reinforcement is needed.
Key Features:
• Five connected fillable compartments
• Creates a continuous 15-foot flood barrier
• Approximately 3 feet deep and 40 inches high when filled
• Provides up to approximately 40 inches of protection height
• Replaces approximately 750 traditional sandbags
• Holds approximately 150 cubic feet of fill
• Uses less sand than a comparable stacked sandbag wall
• Ships flat for efficient storage and transportation
• Fill with sand, gravel or other suitable aggregate
• Ground-conforming design works on multiple surfaces
• Heavy-duty polypropylene construction
• Integrated lifting straps on every compartment
• Multiple BG-5 units can form longer protection runs
• Can be incorporated into engineered stacked-wall systems
Beluga barriers require suitable fill material, filling equipment and a planned deployment method. Engineering review is required for stacked walls, high-flow conditions and critical installations.
