Overview & Best Uses
Overview & Best Uses
The BlueFIN™ Modular Flood Wall System is a rapidly deployable, reusable flood barrier designed for perimeter protection, water diversion, vulnerable openings, critical infrastructure, and large-scale flood mitigation projects.
BlueFIN panels connect side by side to form a continuous flood wall around buildings, equipment, utilities, construction sites, and other areas requiring dependable protection. Standard corner and turn panels allow the barrier to follow a project-specific layout, while an available access-door panel provides a 30-inch opening for emergency entry or egress.
Each BlueFIN section combines a fiberglass-reinforced composite honeycomb panel with a rigid 6063 T-6 aluminum frame. The upright and ground panels assemble into an L-shaped configuration supported by diagonal braces. As floodwater rises against the barrier, the horizontal ground panel uses the weight of the water to help ballast the system in place.
Industrial latches pull adjoining sections together and compress the seals between them. Closed-cell EPDM seals along the panel edges and bottom frame help reduce water passage at the connections and ground surface.
BlueFIN is designed to ship and store flat, then assemble on site in advance of a flood. Available standard configurations provide protection heights of 3, 4, 6, or 8 feet, with custom systems available up to 9 feet for qualifying applications.

Setup & Installation
Setup & Installation
BlueFIN is a deployable flood wall that must be assembled and positioned before floodwater reaches the protected area.
Each standard section consists of an upright panel and a horizontal ground panel that connect to form an L-shaped barrier. Diagonal support braces transfer loads from the upright panel to the water-side ground panel.
General deployment steps include:
- Inspect the deployment route and remove dirt, stones, sharp objects, and other debris.
- Position the ground and upright panels according to the approved project layout.
- Align the upright panel over the ground-panel frame.
- Confirm that the gasket between the upright and ground panels is correctly positioned.
- Bolt the two panels together using the specified hardware and tool.
- Install the diagonal support braces and secure them with the supplied pins.
- Position adjacent sections so their side seals meet.
- Engage and tension the industrial latches to connect and seal the panels.
- Install turn panels, end connections, wall interfaces, or access-door sections according to the project plan.
- Add specified ground anchors and high-wind support cables where required.
Panels up to 4 feet high generally use one diagonal support brace per section. Panels 6 feet and higher generally use two braces per section.
BlueFIN performs best on smooth, level asphalt or concrete. Uneven areas should be inspected, patched, or leveled to improve the bottom seal. Soil, gravel, landscaped surfaces, slopes, and irregular pavement may require site preparation, engineered anchoring, or another barrier solution.
The full layout, panel sequence, corners, access points, anchors, staffing, equipment, and storage plan should be established before the system is needed. A practice deployment is recommended so personnel understand the installation sequence and required labor.
FAQ
FAQ
Is BlueFIN sold by the linear foot?
No. BlueFIN is configured as a complete system using panel sections, turns, access components, anchors, cables, seals, and other project-specific parts. Total length is one factor in the quote, but it is not the only factor.
What protection heights are available?
Standard BlueFIN systems are available in 3-foot, 4-foot, 6-foot, and 8-foot heights. Custom configurations may provide protection up to 9 feet, subject to project review.
How do the panels connect?
Adjacent sections connect with adjustable industrial latches. The latches draw the panels together and compress the seals between them to create a continuous flood wall.
How does the barrier remain stable?
Each section forms an L shape with a horizontal panel extending toward the water. Rising water adds downward ballast to this ground panel. Diagonal braces resist horizontal forces and transfer loads into the base.
Does BlueFIN require permanent installation?
The primary wall panels are deployable and removable. Depending on the site and expected wind or flood conditions, permanent or temporary anchor points may be included for ground plates or high-wind support cables.
Can BlueFIN turn corners?
Yes. Both 45-degree and 90-degree turn panels are available for perimeter layouts and changes in direction.
Can personnel pass through the wall after it is deployed?
An optional access-door panel provides an approximately 30-inch opening. Individual panels may also be left out temporarily and installed when the perimeter must be fully closed.
What tools are required?
An Allen wrench is used to bolt the upright and ground panels together. The adjoining wall sections then connect with integrated latches. Anchoring components may require additional installation tools.
How many people are needed for deployment?
Crew size depends on the panel height, total run length, site access, handling equipment, corners, anchors, and required deployment time. A project-specific deployment plan and practice installation are recommended.
What surface works best?
Smooth, level concrete or asphalt generally provides the best bottom seal. Uneven pavement should be repaired or leveled. Gravel, soil, slopes, and irregular surfaces require project review.
Can BlueFIN be used as a cofferdam or water-diversion wall?
Yes. BlueFIN can be configured for certain water-diversion, cofferdam, construction, and infrastructure applications, subject to the anticipated water depth, flow, surface, anchoring, and engineering requirements.
How is BlueFIN stored?
The upright and ground panels separate so the components can be transported and stored flat. Storage requirements depend on the number and size of panels in the system.
What information is needed for a quote?
Provide the approximate total run length, desired protection height, number and angle of turns, surface type, access requirements, project location, expected water direction and depth, available deployment labor, storage needs, and target date. Photos and site plans are also helpful.
Project-Specific Perimeter Flood Protection
Every BlueFIN™ system is configured around the required protection height, total barrier length, turns, access points, surface conditions, flood direction, anchoring requirements, storage, and deployment plan.
BlueFIN is not priced solely by the linear foot. The final system may include multiple panel sizes, corner sections, access-door panels, end connections, anchoring plates, wind cables, and other project-specific components.
To request a quote, provide the approximate perimeter or run length, desired protection height, number and angle of turns, installation surface, project location, access requirements, expected flood conditions, and target completion date. Site photos, drawings, surveys, and more precise measurements may be requested after the initial review.
More Prepared can help evaluate whether BlueFIN is appropriate for the project or whether another flood barrier system would better match the site, anticipated water depth, available labor, and deployment requirements.
